Helene Horn Figman has combined her strengths in employee relations,
human resources management, and specialized legal knowledge in the areas of sexual harassment, as well as other types of discrimination, with the range of skills and perspectives uniquely suited to presenting comprehensive and engaging workplace awareness education programs.
She routinely establishes, updates and maintains personnel policies that address discrimination, discipline, hiring, leaves of absence and workplace conduct. These policies set the stage for her design, organization and presentation of workplace training. Her virtual presentations have been a great resource to employers during these times of remote work. She also addresses business groups and professional organizations.
Ms. Figman has certificates in Human Resources Management Systems, Managing Disability Leave and Absence Issues, and Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Harassment. She has additional credentials in both Mediation and Training, as well as certification in conducting internal investigations of harassment and other complaints.
Her articles have been published in Industry Week, the Journal of the Massachusetts’ Dental Society, HR Daily Advisor, and Banker & Tradesman.
She is a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the 1st District, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
As an administrative hearings officer at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination for four years, she presided over full evidentiary hearings related to workplace discrimination and her decisions are published in the Massachusetts Discrimination Law Reporter.
Attorney Figman is a graduate of the University of Arizona and the New England School of Law.
She has completed certification in anti-discrimination training by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. The anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training sessions she presents to companies of all sizes are thorough and interactive.
What People Are Saying
“We have worked with Helene Horn Figman for the past several years – she has helped us with many of our HR-related issues over that period of time. As the leader of our annual anti-sexual harassment training, Helene takes this training very seriously. She comes with plenty of materials and is never at a loss for what to say or do. She leads her trainings with an interactive style that makes everyone feel comfortable and ready to participate, even with people of widely varying personalities and on a topic that can be somewhat challenging to discuss. Helene takes the time to get to know everyone participating – learning their names, their job titles, what their typical day looks like – and these efforts are reflected in how attentive and engaged our employees are throughout this time. Helene always makes herself very available, and we have been very happy with her professionalism and effectiveness.”
Cindy Murphy, Owner, Doherty’s Garage, Inc.
“We engaged Helene Horn Figman to provide anti-harassment/anti-discrimination training as a value-added service for our HR clients. Attorney Figman not only knows the subject matter well, she presents it using real-life experiences while involving her audience with games, discussions and other activities all designed to keep the class engaged while they absorb this important information. The feedback from my clients was all positive as they thanked us for inviting them to this training session that every employer and employee needs – especially today!”
